About

Ka U’i O Ka ‘Aina, Kaua’i Cultural Center, is located in the Coconut Marketplace in Kapa’a and offers classes on Hawaiian arts, events, historical displays/museum and cultural demonstrations both individual and group.

Founded by  Kumu Hula Leilani Rivera Low and Darryl T. Low, and is the home center for Halau Hula `O Leilani, offering a free Hula show several days a week at the Coconut Marketplace Center Stage, Wed. at 5 pm and Sat. at 1 pm.

Visitors and locals rely on the center for cultural wisdom and classes, as it is the only Cultural Center on the island focusing on Kauai’s unique cultural heritage.

Classes

Ka U’i O Ka ‘Aina, Kaua`i Cultural Center, offers classes and events daily on the cultural arts and heritage of Kaua`i. Classes are offered by masters of Kaua`i and Ni`ihau and Kumu Hula Leilani Rivera Low with special appearances by her  father the legendary Larry Rivera of Coco Palms, a Kaua`i Living Treasure.

Classes range from hula, polynesian dance styles, `ukulele, slack key guitar with Michael Keale and Haunani Kau`i, tahitian drum demonstration, various lei making styles, to Ni’ihau shell lei by Na Kanahele `Ohana, Coconut master Nelson Ka`ai and Fishnet weaving master Uncle Charlie Perreira. Performances

Halau Hula `O Leilani under the direction of Kumu Hula Leilani Rivera Low performs at the Coconut Market Place every Wednesday at 5:00 pm and Saturday at 1:00 pm at the center stage plaza.

They also perform weekly at the Marriott at Coconut Beach, and the Grand Hyatt Regency at Poipu. 

This Hawaiian cultural and professional hula show is free for everyone to enjoy the songs and dances of Kaua`i. There will be fresh beautiful flower leis sold at each performance as a fundraiser for the non-profit hula school which helps the students continue to perpetuate our culture of Hawai`i.
